102 Followers wowee!!!

:: 102 Followers!::
Wowee!! I am so pleased to welcome all newbies, and thank all of you who read my blog. When I started in September I thought I'd be happy when I got to 10 followers (and indeed I was)  but to get over a hundred. I am thrilled.
I am at work and full of cold, feeling quite sorry for myself :(This has cheered me up no end.
I am going to spend the rest of the day coming up with a giveaway for you lovely people! I have already got some things planned but I want to add a few extras.
A huge thank you to you all
Keep your eyes peeled for details :)

John, Paul George or Ringo?

:: Good morning lovely people::
Wow it's Saturday already and I have somewhat neglected my blog. I have had my 19 year old nephew staying with us so there has not been much time for yarny things or indeed all things bloggy. In there place there have been days out and trips to Cheltenham.

This is the clock in Cheltenham shopping centre which the Littlies(and I have to say me too) love. The fish blows bubbles out on the hour so we have to time our visit well.
And Bristol's shopping centre (we haven't only been shopping!)
This is a big shopping mall at Cribbs Causeway just outside Bristol.
I thought this was fantastic!! All those traditional deck chairs, bunting and kids paddling in the stream that runs down from the fountain. They even have giant games like Connect 4 and Chess.

I have, however, finished the hat I have been working on. I have really enjoyed this pattern and just LOVE the yarn, it reminds me so much of those little metallic beetles you see on leaves (quite often on silver birch trees).

or maybe it's just me! So for a title for this FO. Because it reminds of said beetle I think it deserves a beetle Beatle name. So I am pleased to introduce you to my Ringo Ta-dah!!!

My only problem is it needs blocking, but only the back section not the brim. It is a bit more of a beanie than a beret at the moment.
Can any of you lovely people give me any advice? I have never blocked a hat before. I have thought about using a balloon or even stuffing it with shopping bags but I could do with some guidance so I hope to pick your wooly wonder brains :)

There has been a ripple of excitement on the We Love Lucy group on Ravelry since Lucy from Attic 24 blog made  This post in which she showed the most gorgeous hook! Everyone has been talking about hook handles. I had a look at some beautiful ones on Etsy but I decided to have a go at making one myself. I popped to Hobbycraft (hence the above shopping trip) and bought cheap polymer clay. For those who don't know it is modelling clay that once shaped you bake in the oven and it hardens.

at 99p a block it wasn't going break the bank!
This is what I came up with
Now these could be an idea for my 100 follower giveaway!
It's my lovely friend C's gorgeous daughters birthday tomorrow (she is Middle Littlies best friend) and she has just learned to crochet so this one is going to be her birthday present along with the personalised project bag I am making her. C's other gorgeous little girl broke her arm on Thursday, poor love, and had to have an operation yesterday so I am making a little something for her too but I'll show you those in my next post.

So I best go round up the troops and find out what we are going to do today when we get my Nephew out his bed (hopefully before lunch!!)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend whatever your doing.

Romy Riot

:: Evening All ! ::
How are you all this July evening?
Before I go any further I want to say a big welcome to my newest followers and welcome back to my regular followers. Thank you all for the lovely comments on my Festival Shawl it really is so nice of you to take the time to comment.

I suddenly realised it was Tuesday and I hadn't made a post in over a week. Ooops!!!

Well what's been going on in the last week?
Terrible sickness bug ripped through the family (but we won't linger on that)
The Littlies have been busy busy busy. Biggest Littlie with ballet and horses.

Middle Littlie with ballet and street dance not to mention her interview
 on BBC 1's Countryfile on Sunday night which was watched with great excitement in our house! She was talking about her allergies.

Smallest Littlie had a fantastic report card (as did the girls) proving he is working hard to cope with dyslexia and doing a brilliant job. He also had his first ever Tae-Kwon-Do lesson and he came out thinking he was Jackie Chan!
forgive me cutting out his face (I always said I wouldn't post  photos showing my kids faces) but this photo was too funny not to share.
We picked the last of the raspberries

and surprisingly got a kilo which was enough for 3 and a half jars of jam plus some extra for pancakes. Yum yum!

Mr TB and I discovered a lovely new place for our Wednesday lunch (our version of the O'Bama's date night because we don't need a babysitter.)
It's a lovely relaxed,comfortable place with really scrummy food

 And oooooooo cake

Lovely lovely lovely cake!!! Yum yum.
I think it's going to be a big favourite with us.
::
I made a decision on My Riot yarn. I decided to knit Romy by Katya Frankel.

It's a knitted beret with a 20 stitch cable repeat and a few little tricky bits to keep me on my toes. I have marked each set of 20 stitches so if   when I get it wrong I know fairly quickly and can remedy it before I have to frog inches of work!
I haven't got to far with it yet but I thought I'd share my work so far.

So far I am heart skippingly happy with it !
(if Lucy of Attic 24 doesn't mind me borrowing her phrase)

Before I go I wanted to say there are three lovely giveaways on at the moment
one is over at Insomniac With a Hook
and last but not least Gillyflower

I have decided when if get to the magical 100 followers I will do a giveaway too.
95 down 5 to go!

Have a lovely week everyone!

Hooky Mojo is back!

::Hello to you all from a soggy Costwolds!::
When will this blinking rain stop???
Yet another camping weekend cancelled due to sucky weather :(

I have been ,more of a knitter of late than a crocheter or crocheator as Smallest Littlie would say. I am having trouble with my wrist clicking really badly when I crochet but not when I knit so it has been putting me off. I lost my hooky mojo for a while. That was until I found this...............

The Festival Shawl pattern on Ravelry.
I imagined myself all wrapped up in this beauty by the campfire this weekend, snuggled up with Mr TB and toasting marmallows and drinking hot milk with brandy and honey (our camping treat) whilst singing songs and telling stories to the littlies. In this day dream we look like some kind of tourist leaflet family and not the slightly bedraggled and stressed out bunch that camping makes everyone. When camping even Waltons act like the Osbournes by the time they have got the bloody thing pitched and beds sorted and..........so on and so on!!!
Enough of that! The point is I can dream and if I have a Festival Shawl  of my very own wrapped around me I can be one step closer to being said family all relaxed and having a jolly time.
(Even though Mr TB is now working this weekend, it's pouring down and we are not going anymore!)
 I dug the hooks back out and off I went with some Lidl sock yarn in Navy blue from my stash...........
two evenings work + 48hours blocking later I had this beauty of my very own................

Modelled by Biggest Littlie.
 It is a monster shawl!
Now it is blocked a whopping 190cm wide but I love it and I have my hooky mojo back.

A little bit of glass ta-dah now.
My gorgeous friend L has an allotment, which makes her a very happy bunny indeed. The only thing that would make this very happy bunny even happier is if she had a shed! Ahhhh one of life's simple pleasures a shed. How great would it be to say " I'm off to my shed darling you can cook the kids tea!" and then run like the wind to your own little piece of  Nirvana in wooden form?? Anyhoo this Mother's Day L's hubby indeed got her a shed. A second hand one but who cares about that? Not I and certainly not L.
The purple shed is talked about all the time with ideas of an illicit still, home brew and lots of other shananigans.
 It's now purple with a heart on the door and bunting
 (much to the amusement mostly elderly male allotment keepers)
 Tonight is the official opening of said shed  complete with big hats and champagne but I can't make it so I made her a special present in fused Glass.

I hope she likes it!

L ..................... here's to  your little purple shed and all those who frequent her!!!

Chin chin!

Have a great weekend everyone, whatever you are doing!

Startitis and Mollie Makes

:: Good Morning All::
How are you all doing today? You have been making such lovely posts of late and I have enjoyed reading them so much. So much that I have such a bad case of Startits. I used be a such a good girl! Only ever started one project at a time but I have been lured in by yarny goodness and lots of ideas!!!!!! I blame you all!! You all make such lovely things!!
So what's on the needles at the moment?

A very pretty soft green, cotton version of the Baby Bunting Cardi which I will show use when it's done. I am still plodding on with the The Perfect Cardi but I intend to take this away as my holibobs project. I am ashamed to say I could not resist my sock yarn from swap parcel any longer. It was calling to me! Winking at me from the corner of my eye all the time. You know the type? That "Go on! You know you want to." look. "Cast me on. Come on. You can't resist me forever!" Temptation was too much and I gave in on Saturday. Oh they are LUSH. I think there name has to be My Multi Coloured Swap Socks. If you are a born in the UK and a child of the 1970's like myself you will get that title right away but for the rest of you Multi Coloured Swap Shop was a children's TV programme for happy, tasteless years of fashion disastrous  20years.
And here they are. Isn't that yarn glorious?

I went to my LYS to say Happy Birthday to Lucy which was too tempting again and I added to my stash again.

Isn't this glorious too? I think it may become a shawl but I have seen so many lovely Ravelry project it would be great for I just can't make my mind up. Any ideas??

This sweet yarn is going to be another baby item. I have a couple in mind but haven't settled on which.
I told you I have startitis!!!!! I want to make more things.
 I would need to be an octopus to get through the ideas I have at the moment.

I stumbled across a lovely new blog recently. I can't even remember how.  It's the lovely Vic Loves To Knit. Vic had a giveaway on and it was the new magazine that I have heard about so much (but couldn't get hold of a copy of)
To my utter astonishment I won! I sent Vic my details and a lovely little parcel of happiness arrived all beautifully wrapped.
That flower is going to be sewn onto a brooch back today so I can wear it on my jackets and cardigans.

What a treat! It's lovely and full of good ideas and a big help with sourcing some of materials used in crafts. So a big big thank you to Victoria I am so pleased.

I am off now to go to the pub for lunch with Mr TB (our version of the O'Bama's date night) Then off to get a haircut.
Have a great week everyone.

Baby baby!

:: Happy Friday Everyone!::
Oh boy am I glad it's Friday. It's been a darn long week.
Just a very quick post to show you this little cutie!
Sqqquuuuueeeeee.

Sweet isn't it?
There are so many babies due in October this year I wanted to get a head start on the mamouth knit-a-thon ahead! This pattern was just so quick and lovely to knit I cast on another one last night.
I used Puerperium cardigan pattern form Rav and some cashmere I bought a while back form eBay. It was well worth it. It was from Japan and REALLY good value. This first one is for my niece/nephew due in October. I thought the grosgrain ribbon would look sweet on the button band if it's a little girl and I can just see it with a red crochet trim around the bottom and the sleeves, can't you? If it's a boy I thought some sweet little plain wooden buttons would be groovy or maybe choose a style and use different colours on each one.

The one I cast on last night is sooooooooooooo sweet and in the most gorgeous soft cotton. It's so lovely I can't wait to get home and knit some more. I hope to finish it this weekend and share it with you.

Have a good weekend bloglanders!
Love Tickety-boo.

Good Night Mr Tom!

::Hello......I'm still here::
Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I really don't know where the time has gone. I have still been popping in to your blogs and enjoying a good read. Thank you all for the lovely comments on my last post I appreciated each one.

The weather has been pants over the last couple of weeks. This has meant one wet picnic with friends, but fun none the less and lots of time indoors with the littlies. We took a window of opportunity today and popped out to our local pick your own farm  and got some broad beans and strawberries and said hello to the alpacas (who were sporting a new haircut) and pigs called Mr Bubbles and Percy.

::

Smallest littlie is going to Kidderminster in a two weeks time to be an evacuee.
His school project this term has been WWII and to make it an experience they can understand they will dress as evacuees and go on a train to a Mansion House where they will Dig for Victory!

It's a great experience for them (the other two littlies have been before). It was easier when the girls went as they already had dresses in that style but dressing his nibbs was going to take a bit more thought.
He needed a tank top!! Sweater vest I think you call them over the pond.
I hunted through Ravelry for a suitable pattern but could only find baby patterns or gents.
Nothing else for it I had to wing it! Not the easiest of task for a bear of very little brain like me who has only ever knitted baby clothes before (apart from my socks). I just read hundreds of patterns and took little bits of info from each.
This is what I came up with..........

He loves it! So do I. He looks like he's straight from that lovely film
 Good Night Mr Tom, which if you have never seen is a film everyone should see at least once. Littlie likes it so much he wanted to wear it to bed over his jammies! This afternoon I'll be wrapping a Persil Tablet box in brown paper and attaching string to it for his gas mask box. Mr TB has found a cap for him to wear and I have made a label to attach to his person to make it authentic!
::
My brothers wife is due to have baby number 4 in October so I have been trawling the baby patterns for nice easy knits to make. I found the most gorgeous baby sleep sack on Ravelry .................................

How cute is that???? Slight problem is the pattern is in French so nice but not easy! The extent of my school girl French allows me to order a Stella Artois in the pub up the road but not much else. Do you think I can wing it ? I wonder how it might look if the cables were owlie cables like I have seen in patterns on Rav? I figure it's worth a try. I don't know if she's having a boy or a girl (they have 3 boys already) so I bought some soft grey yarn and will add buttons and a lining according to which they have.

This is the yarn, 400g ball for the total bargain price of £3.50!!!!
::
Right my lovelies that's it for now, I am being distracted by the smell of the Tagine bubbling away in the oven which needs attention.
Have a great week.
