To Frog or Not to Frog? That is the Question!

:: Hello to you on this beautiful Sunday afternoon.::
Welcome to my new followers and thank you to all of you who left such lovely comments on my Rosey Posey Cozy.

The weather this week has been so lovely it was really hard to look out the office window while at work, see the sunshine and not being able to enjoy it until I got home. All my washing has been line dried this week and sado that I am this makes me VERY happy.

Yesterday we took the Littlies to a place near Frampton-on-Severn to look for fossils. We packed tomato soup in the flask and hot sausages in the food flask for our picnic and off we went....................................

smallest littlie LOVES dinosaurs so fossil hunting has always been a favourite pass time and the soup and sausages are becoming quite a tradition for picnics along with home made madira cake.

It was sooooooo incredibly muddy that I was sorry they weren't wearing wellies instead of walking boots but you live and learn! We had quite a bit of success.....

ammonites

Gryphaea shells and bi-vavles.

A fun day was had by all.

and now the yarny bit..........................
To Frog or Not to Frog.......................................................
I got this far on Wednesday with the Perfect Cardi

about 28cm of Pefect Cardi. With no real problems.

But suddenly there was a problem!! I seemed to be needing to increase where I should be (and had previously been) decreasing and decreasing where I should be increasing...................you get the picture. I was confused! I just couldn't figure out what the problem was and where I had gone wrong. I thought "I'll leave it and carry on it'll all be fine" but that is my denial of the situation."I'll take it back down and inch and a half until the last button hole and see if I can figure it out!" Anyway before I frogged 1 1/2 inches, which was going to break my heart, I decided I would try slipping the stitches onto a scrap piece if yarn to see what it was like for sizing. Thank goodness I did. I was humungous!!!!!!!!! I could have worn it but so could Mr TB and the Littlies all at the same time. I had over estimated my body size by quite a bit, so that was descision made Frog the lot.
Oh that broke my heart. All that hard work :o(
However if it is to be The Perfect Cardi it has to fit. I couldn't bring myself to do it until yesterday.
I even cast on my next pair of socks so I didn't have to look at it...........

I knew I had to be brave and start ripping out the stitches of the cardi and I winced with each tug of the yarn. It's amazing how quick frogging is but how long it took to put that work there in the first place.

Today armed with a cuppa, sat in the sunshine I cast the blooming thing back on

but a few less stitches than the first time. Lets see how Perfect Cardi Mark II goes!!
ETA: I want to thank Alice for the lovely shout out on her blog. I am chuffed to bits. Cheers matey!!!!

Have a great week everyone. I hope if you make any mistakes they're only small ones ;o)

  1. sooo jealous of the socks, these look like they may be the best yet IMO. I have had a frogging weekend too. I am trying my first 'lace' type of pattern shawl and I have frogged it seven times so far, I really had the urge to become aggressive with my needles!!! I wouldn't mind but the pattern is rated as 'easy' and the reviews I have read all rave how quick and foolproof it is!!! If I go wrong again that is bloomin it! There will be a knitting tantrum in da house!

  3. I know how you feel, all that work, like tearing up hours of your life but, sometimes, needs must.
I knitted a jumper, sewed it up, didn't like it, in its "new" life it is a bag.
    Love the socks, fabulous yarn.
I do like the fossils too.

  4. I'm impressed with those great fossils!
I hate frogging, but you'll feel better to get back on track.
Always love your socks. So, finally tonight I am casting on for the "afterthought" heel, cuff down. What pattern do you use for toe-up? I might have to have a classs for that one.

  5. Love your sock colour and I hate frogging back as well I usually thread a lifeline through my stitches about 5-10 rows into my knitting. So when a mistake is made you dont have to rip out so far back.

  6. Frogging is the pits. I had to do that yesterday-even worse when it's taking me twice as long with sore fingers from hand surgery- but, I just try and not think about it. Kind of like leaving your lunch at home when you're 10 minutes on your way down the road. Best to go back, get your lunch and pretend you never left in the first place... Great socks- and WOW to find those kinds of fossils just laying about?!?!? How cool is that for your little ones! Hope the frogging is behind you... XOXO Ursula

  7. Hi Tickety-boo, Sorry to hear about the frogging, but I know it will be the perfect sweater for you when you are done! Look at your socks and how you master them. The sweater will be the same way. And I love your new socks, great colors!! Congratulation for being mentioned on Alice's blog, that is really something. I love her blog too! Hope you have a great week and good luck with the knitting. xoRobin❤

  9. The internet just ate my comment, so apologies if I appear to post twice!!

It's a real shame that you had to frog your cardie, but at least you realised it was coming out too big relatively early in the project. You'll love it all the more when it's done and fits perfectly :)

The fossil hunting sounds really cool!

    Much love,
    Kim

  10. ooooooh dear! The thing is with knitting, that i've discovered, that it will never be OK in the end! Aaaah!!! I've learned the hard way too! Best to frog when your feminine intuition tells you it is going to be a big friggin mess if you don't! Your perfect cardy looks amazing though, I thought I'd like it too, so let me know how easy the pattern is!

Loving the new socks, I'm addicted to sock yarn now and am having to restrain myself from blowing my pay on it, especailly as I'm 25% of the way through a sock and feeling a wee bit bored! tee hee Sock knitters are saints!

    Have a lovely week! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  11. Such lovely fossils, my Harry would love them. We went fossil hunting in Dorset but never found anything as impressive!

Re frogging, painful but well worth it. I have undone so much in the last year that wasn't happy with but to get to the end goal is worth it.

I so need to see this idea of two socks one needle knitting is such a great idea.
